Chris Lane entered the country scene with the release of his song “Fix” in 2016 and has since become one of country’s artists on the rise. Bending the genre and favoring contemporary country, songs like “Fix,” and “Take Back Home Girl,” fuse R&B with southern roots. Chris Lane is an artist that should be on your radar.
Hailing from Kernersville, North Carolina, Lane grew up playing baseball with the hopes of playing in college. However, an injury prevented him from turning baseball into a career. Distraught that he wouldn’t be able to play, Lane picked up guitar as an alternative. Singing and playing in a cover band, he quickly realized that music was his preferred pathway. In 2007, he and his twin brother, Cory, auditioned for American Idol. Not making it through auditions was a blessing in disguise.
He moved to Nashville with intentions of building a stable career, and signed with Big Loud Records. The signing later led to tours with artists like Florida Georgia Line, Dustin Lynch, Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw + Faith Hill, and Rascal Flatts. Lane’s debut album “Girl Problems” featured fan favorites “Fix” and “For Her,” both of which became Gold-certified and earned him spots at Country Radio’s #1. Gaining a large fanbase with “Girl Problems” release, he hit the ground running.
It was important for Lane that his next album live up to the same successes of his first album. He focused on himself, his passion for music and recalled a moment where it all clicked.
“I had a moment where I played a show with Kenny Chesney,” the lifelong country fan explains. “It was a festival right on the beach, and I watched him do his thing and I watched the crowd, and there was just something special about that night. I hadn’t seen him in a long time, and the way people connected to what he was doing ... I had one of those moments like ‘Man, I really want my music to do that.’”
On July 13, 2018, Lane released his sophomore album, “Laps Around The Sun.” The album is a polished product of the singer-songwriter’s past two whirlwind years. “Laps Around The Sun” encapsules Lane’s alluring modern country sound. Digging deep, telling stories through song, and being honest with his fans, Lane’s music evolved and matured in “Laps Around The Sun.” The perfect merge of country and pop is demonstrated in songs like “All The Right Problems” and “Sun Kiss You.” The fourteen track album includes songs written by accredited writers such as Rhett Akins, Ashley Gorley, Hillary Lindsey and The Warren Brothers. It also features powerhouse female artists Danielle Bradbery and Tori Kelly.
“I’ve learned a lot,” Lane admits. “With my first record, I was trying to figure out exactly what kind of sound I wanted to have, and now I know. I know what I truly love and what kind of artist I want to be. My goal was to make sure anyone who hears this album finds a song they can relate to. I hope I accomplished that.”
Lane will be performing this year at the festival and we are confident that this an artist you’ll want to see. Lane has been a major breakthrough in country music and is one of the crucial individuals shaping it’s sound today. Check out his music!
